Domestic Scale: Sculpture for Interiors incorporates works by seven contemporary sculptors represented by John Buckley Gallery. Referencing the touring exhibitions produced by the British Arts Council in the 1940s and ‘50s entitled Sculpture in the Home, the show also shares a synchronicity with the revival of modernism in recent design trends evidenced by the NGV blockbuster – Mid Century Modern. Domestic Scale: Sculpture for Interiors plays on Alan Powell’s overarching architectural intention for 114 Bendigo Street, Prahran, as a home for living and practicing, as well as collecting and exhibiting contemporary art.
